ComEd Tree Trimming Work Scheduled for Lombard ComEd will begin tree trimming and vegetation maintenance in the Lombard area within the next few months as part of its routine efforts to improve electric reliability and public safety. Residents in affected areas have received or will receive postcard notifications from ComEd in advance of any scheduled work. Tree trimming is necessary to remove branches and vines that interfere with power lines, which can create safety hazards and contribute to power outages. In some cases, tree removal may be required to maintain proper clearance around electrical equipment. When trees are removed, remaining stumps are treated with an approved herbicide to prevent regrowth.

Carbon Monoxide Safety During Winter MonthsThe risk of carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning increases during the winter, as colder temperatures cause home heating systems to run longer and more frequently. Often referred to as the “silent killer,” carbon monoxide is an invisible, odorless, and colorless gas produced when fuels such as gasoline, wood, coal, natural gas, propane, oil, or methane do not burn completely. Carbon monoxide alarms provide early warning when unsafe levels of CO are present in your home. The Lombard Fire Department recommends installing CO alarms on every level of the home, particularly in homes with fuel-burning appliances or an attached garage. If you ever suspect a carbon monoxide issue, call 911 immediately. When it comes to CO, it is always safer to act quickly.
