Lombard Police Participate in 27th Annual Shop with a Cop Event On Saturday, Dec. 6, 2025, the Lombard Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association (LCPAAA) and Lombard Police Department hosted the 27th annual Shop with a Cop event, continuing the tradition of bringing holiday cheer to local families.
During the event, Lombard police officers picked up the 11 participating children from their homes and escorted them in a convoy of squad cars for a special Christmas shopping experience. The children shopped for gifts at Target and DICK’S Sporting Goods in Lombard for their parents and family. Officers assisted them in their shopping, while other shoppers selected special gifts for each of the participating children. Once the shopping was completed, the group returned to Lombard Village Hall to wrap their gifts, meet Santa Claus and enjoy lunch before returning home. This event is made possible through the generosity of DICK’S Sporting Goods, Target, the fundraising efforts of the LCPAAA and Lombard FOP #270, and many local businesses and individuals who donate each year.

Police Remind Drivers to Stay Safe This Holiday Season The holiday season is a time for joy, connection and celebration. To help make sure those celebrations do not end in tragedy, the Lombard Police Department is joining law enforcement agencies across Illinois in a major traffic safety effort.
From Dec. 12 through Jan. 5, our officers will take part in the statewide “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over,” “Drive High. Get a DUI.” and “Click It or Ticket” campaigns. These enforcement efforts are supported by the Illinois Department of Transportation’s statewide outreach media program, “It’s Not a Game,” which reminds motorists that driving is serious business.

Keep Fire Hydrants Clear This Winter During the winter months, keeping fire hydrants accessible is an important way residents can help protect their neighborhood. When hydrants are buried under snow, firefighters lose precious time locating and digging them out, which can delay critical emergency response.
The Village of Lombard and the Lombard Fire Department are asking residents to help support community safety by clearing snow at least 3 feet around any fire hydrant near their home. A visible, accessible hydrant allows firefighters to connect to a water supply quickly when seconds truly matter. Thank you for doing your part to keep hydrants clear and helping ensure the safety of your family, your neighbors, and the Lombard community!

Keep the Wreath Red This Holiday Season As the holiday season begins, the Lombard Fire Department is once again participating in the annual “Keep the Wreath Red” fire safety campaign. This initiative provides a visual reminder to practice safe habits while decorating, cooking, and celebrating throughout the holidays.
Wreaths with red bulbs are displayed at each Lombard fire station. If a fire occurs in the community that is related to holiday decorations or seasonal activities, firefighters will replace one red bulb with a white bulb. The wreaths will remain up through January 1, 2026, with the goal of keeping every bulb red. Help keep the wreath red by staying mindful of fire safety and enjoying a safe and joyful holiday season.
