Keep the Wreath Red This Holiday Season As the holiday season begins, the Lombard Fire Department is once again participating in the annual “Keep the Wreath Red” fire safety campaign. This initiative provides a visual reminder to practice safe habits while decorating, cooking, and celebrating throughout the holidays.
Wreaths with red bulbs are displayed at each Lombard fire station. If a fire occurs in the community that is related to holiday decorations or seasonal activities, firefighters will replace one red bulb with a white bulb. The wreaths will remain up through January 1, 2026, with the goal of keeping every bulb red. Help keep the wreath red by staying mindful of fire safety and enjoying a safe and joyful holiday season.

Free Leaf Collection Ends Next Week Lombard’s annual six-week free leaf pick-up program ends Friday, December 12, when all yard waste collection will conclude for the year. Until then, residents may place an unlimited number of paper bags filled with leaves only at the curb on their regular Waste Management collection day. No stickers are required for leaf-filled bags during this period.
As winter weather continues in our area, residents are asked to brush snow off leaf bags and ensure they are not frozen to the ground so WM crews can collect them safely and efficiently.
