Free Leaf Collection Underway

Lombard’s annual six-week free leaf pick-up program for residents is underway, and will continue through Friday, Dec 12, when all yard waste collection will end for the year.

During this time, residential property owners may place an unlimited number of paper bags containing only leaves at the curb on their regular Waste Management collection day. No stickers are required for leaf-filled paper bags during this time period.

Help Keep Leaves Away from Storm Drains

As leaves continue to fall, the Village reminds residents to help keep streets and storm drains clear. Keeping leaves out of the roadway helps prevent street flooding and protects local waterways. While Village street sweepers make regular rounds, residents can make a big difference by clearing leaves and debris near storm drains between sweepings.

Roadway Users are Reminded to Stay Alert and Share the Road

To help keep everyone safe, the Lombard Police Department
reminds all roadway users to stay alert and follow Illinois traffic laws.

  • Drivers must always stop for pedestrians and bicyclists crossing within both marked and unmarked crosswalks.
  • Pedestrians and bicyclists should wait until it is safe to cross before entering the roadway.
  • Flashing crosswalk lights are designed to alert drivers, but do not automatically provide the right of way.

The Village encourages all residents to stay attentive and courteous when driving, walking, or biking to help keep Lombard’s streets safe for everyone. For additional information, visit the Pedestrian, Bicycle and Driver Safety webpage.

Lombard Fire Department Donates $6,000 to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital Bhorade Cancer Center

The Lombard Fire Department presented a $6,000 donation to the Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital Bhorade Cancer Center this week. To date, the department has contributed more than $40,000 to support the Center’s efforts in cancer care and patient support.

This year’s donation was made possible through the 12th Annual Pink T-Shirt Fundraiser, which raises awareness for breast cancer and supports the Cancer Center team at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital.

The Lombard Fire Department thanks everyone who purchased a pink t-shirt and helped make this year’s fundraiser a success.
