Halloween 2025: Be Safe & Have Fun

Halloween will take place this Friday, October 31, and the Village has set recommended trick-or-treating hours from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Residents who plan to hand out candy are encouraged to turn on their porch lights to show that trick-or-treaters are welcome.

Safety Reminders

Parents are encouraged to accompany young children, and older kids should stick with friends, visit only well-lit homes and cross streets at intersections.

Drivers are reminded to stay alert for little ghosts and goblins walking through our neighborhoods.

Drive Sober Enforcement

The Lombard Police Department urges motorists to commit to sober driving, buckle up, and follow traffic laws this Halloween as children and families walk through neighborhoods after dark in search of candy and spooky fun.

Through Nov. 3, 2025, Lombard Police officers will increase traffic enforcement to identify and stop impaired drivers. If you plan to enjoy Halloween festivities, be sure to have a safe, sober ride home.

Fall Back: Change your Clocks and Smoke Alarms

As residents prepare to “fall back” and set their clocks back one hour for the end of daylight saving time on Sunday, Nov. 2, 2025, the Lombard Fire Department reminds everyone to also check their smoke and carbon monoxide (CO) alarms.

In addition, the National Fire Protection Association recommends:

  • Installing smoke alarms in every bedroom, outside each sleeping area, and on every level of the home, including the basement.
  • Testing alarms monthly and replacing units that are more than 10 years old.
  • Interconnecting smoke alarms so when one sounds, they all do.
  • Replacing any smoke alarms that fail to respond properly during testing.
