Halloween 2025: Be Safe & Have Fun

Halloween is on Friday, October 31st, and the Village is recommending trick-or-treating hours from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Safety Reminders

Parents are encouraged to accompany young children, and older kids should stick with friends, visit only well-lit homes, and cross streets at intersections. Drivers are reminded to stay alert for little ghosts and goblins walking through our neighborhoods. If you plan to hand out candy, please turn on your porch light to welcome trick-or-treaters.

Not Participating This Year?

For residents who prefer not to take part, the Village offers a downloadable “No Trick-or-Treating” sign to display near your front door. Simply print it at home and place it in a visible spot. Turning off your porch light is another easy way to signal that your household isn’t participating. Please note: the Village will not provide printed copies of the sign.

Fire Prevention Week: “Charge into Fire Safety”

The Lombard Fire Department is teaming up with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) to promote this year’s Fire Prevention Week, October 5–11 — “Charge Into Fire Safety: Lithium-Ion Batteries in Your Home.”

This year’s campaign focuses on the safe use of lithium-ion batteries, which power many of the devices we use every day. Remember these three key steps:

Buy only products with safety certification marks such as UL, ETL, or CSA.
Charge safely using the manufacturer’s approved cords and avoid overcharging. Recycle batteries properly — never place them in the trash or regular recycling bins.

For more information, visit the NFPA website.

Thank You for a Great Fire Department Open House

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Lombard Fire Department’s Community Open House last night! We were thrilled to see so many families come out to explore our fire and emergency vehicles, meet Lombard’s firefighters and connect with local community organizations.

It was a wonderful evening filled with learning and hands-on fun. We’re grateful to all who attended and to everyone who helped make this event such a success.
