Congratulations to the 2025 Seniors of the Year!
The Village of Lombard is pleased to announce that Jim and Carol Wixon have been named the 2025 Senior Man and Woman of the Year. These Lombard residents have gone above and beyond to give back to our community and are recognized for their local contributions and volunteerism. Jim and Carol Wixon have been dedicated to the Lombard community for more than five decades, raising their family here and devoting countless hours to improving the lives of others. Together, they have played an active role in supporting First United Methodist Church of Lombard and the Outreach House, where they help organize food distribution, assist with the Clothes Closet and greet guests with warmth and compassion. Carol continues to make a meaningful impact by handcrafting “care pillows” that offer comfort and encouragement to those experiencing illness in local hospitals and clinics. Jim’s calm and dependable presence complements these efforts as he helps distribute food, collect donations and support Carol’s volunteer initiatives. Together, their service, compassion and teamwork reflect the values celebrated by this award.

Halloween 2025: Be Safe & Have Fun
Halloween is on Friday, October 31st, and the Village is recommending trick-or-treating hours from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Residents who plan to hand out candy are encouraged to turn on their porch lights to show that trick-or-treaters are welcome. Parents should walk with young children and remind older kids to stay with friends, visit only well-lit homes, and cross streets at intersections. Everyone should stay alert and watch for traffic. To help make Halloween enjoyable and respectful for everyone, the Village has created a downloadable “No Trick-or-Treating” sign that residents can display near their front door if they choose not to participate. Simply print the sign at home and place it in a visible spot to let trick-or-treaters know your household is not handing out candy this year. Leaving your porch light off is another clear signal. Please note, the Village will not provide printed copies of the signs.
