Lombard Leash Law Reminders
The Village of Lombard reminds residents that dogs must be kept on a leash whenever they are off their owner’s property, including while walking on streets, sidewalks, parkways and parks. Keeping your dog leashed protects your pet, your neighbors and the community we share. Leash laws are about safety and responsibility. They help to:
- Keep your dog safe: Even well-trained dogs can become startled or chase after wildlife, which may put them in danger from traffic or other animals.
- Keep other pets safe: Some dogs may react defensively when approached by an unleashed dog, leading to conflicts or injuries.
- Respect your neighbors: Many people, including children, are fearful of dogs. Leashing your dog allows everyone to enjoy Lombard’s public spaces comfortably.
By following Lombard’s leash requirements, residents help keep our Village safe and welcoming for all. To review the full ordinance, visit the Village website.
