Hydrant Flushing Work is Underway
The Lombard Public Works Department began its annual hydrant flushing program earlier this week. The program will continue for approximately six weeks, with work scheduled Monday through Thursday from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Some overnight flushing will also occur to help reduce traffic impacts. Hydrant flushing is a routine maintenance activity that helps maintain water quality and system reliability. Flushing removes natural mineral and sediment buildup from water mains, ensures hydrants are operating properly in case of emergencies, and provides important flow data to confirm the system’s ability to meet daily and fire protection demands.

National Police Association Mailer Information
The Village of Lombard has been made aware of a letter being mailed to residents from the National Police Association. The letter promotes “quality of life policing” and contains strong language suggesting that local officials may be limiting police authority. It references the “Lombard City Council” in the header and solicits support and monetary donations in support of quality of life policing. The formatting and wording of this letter may give the false impression that it originates or is affiliated with the Village and/or that policing in Lombard is at risk. Please be assured that there are no efforts to implement policing reductions in Lombard. The Lombard Police Department is fully supported by the Village and remains committed to public safety and serving the community. Similar mailings have been reported in other communities across the country. Law enforcement agencies have confirmed that this organization is not a recognized law enforcement body. Letters of this type often use alarming language to solicit donations, typically directed to a post office box, without providing any benefit to local communities. Residents should be aware that legitimate law enforcement agencies, including the Lombard Police Department, will never request donations through letters, phone calls, or text messages. For residents who would like to support the Lombard Police Department, we encourage you to learn more about the Lombard Police Citizens Academy Alumni Association (LCPAAA). This non-profit group, made up of graduates of the Lombard Citizens Police Academy program, works to strengthen connections between residents and the Police Department. The LCPAAA supports community programs such as Shop-with-a-Cop, Cruise Nights fundraising events, an annual food drive for local pantries, and a scholarship program for children of police officers and firefighters. These efforts directly benefit our community and provide meaningful support to the men and women of the Lombard Police Department.

Know the Rules for E-Scooters, E-Bikes, and Other Motorized Devices
The Lombard Police Department is continuing efforts to educate the community about laws and safety guidelines for using e-scooters, e-bikes, and other motorized devices. Here are a few important reminders: - Riders of e-scooters must be 18 or older, per State law.
- E-bikes must follow the Bicycle Rules of the Road.
- Class 3 e-bike riders must be at least 16 years old.
- Riding on sidewalks is discouraged and prohibited in certain areas, including Downtown Lombard. Refer to the Walk Your Wheels webpage for details.
- Kids under 16 cannot operate non-highway motorcycles or similar motor-driven cycles (gas or electric) on public roads, as these require a valid driver's license and insurance.
We encourage everyone to review these guidelines to help prevent crashes, injuries and confusion. For more information, visit the Village’s E-Scooter and E-Bike webpage.
