Know the Rules for E-Scooters, E-Bikes, and Other Motorized Devices
The Lombard Police Department is continuing efforts to educate the community about laws and safety guidelines for using e-scooters, e-bikes, and other motorized devices. Here are a few important reminders: - Riders of e-scooters must be 18 or older, per State law.
- E-bikes must follow the Bicycle Rules of the Road.
- Class 3 e-bike riders must be at least 16 years old.
- Riding on sidewalks is discouraged and prohibited in certain areas, including Downtown Lombard. Refer to the Walk Your Wheels webpage for details.
- Kids under 16 cannot operate non-highway motorcycles or similar motor-driven cycles (gas or electric) on public roads, as these require a valid driver's license and insurance.
We encourage everyone to review these guidelines to help prevent crashes, injuries and confusion. For full details, visit the Village’s E-Scooter and E-Bike webpage.

West Nile Virus Risk Raised to Moderate in DuPage County
The DuPage County Health Department has elevated the risk level for West Nile Virus from low to moderate, prompting a reminder for residents to take proactive steps to protect themselves and their families. Residents are encouraged to follow the “Drain and Defend” approach: - Drain any standing water around your home where mosquitoes can breed.
- Defend yourself by using insect repellent and wearing long sleeves and pants when outdoors, especially during dawn and dusk.
For additional backyard protection, residents may consider using yard treatment sprays, which are available at most local hardware stores. Information about the Village's mosquito abatement program, which focuses on killing larvae, is available on the Village's Environmental webpage.
