Sign Up for the 2025 Lombard Citizen’s Police Academy The Lombard Police Department is now accepting applications for its 35th Annual Citizens Police Academy. This free, 10-week program provides a unique, behind-the-scenes look at local law enforcement, including hands-on experiences and presentations from officers. Classes will be held Tuesday evenings from 7:00 to 9:30 p.m. at Village Hall, beginning September 9th. Participants must be at least 18 years old, and space is limited to 20 individuals. Downtown Lombard Road Closures for Lombard Cycling Event - July 22 In less than a week, the Lombard Cycling Classic will take place in downtown Lombard on Tuesday, July 22nd.
As a reminder, St. Charles Road will be closed between Elizabeth Street and Main Street from 4:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Drivers are advised to plan ahead for traffic delays and detours. Road Closure and Detour InformationVehicles will not be able to access the race route after detours are put in place between 4:30 a.m. and 10 p.m. Please note: - St. Charles Road will be CLOSED from Elizabeth through Main Street, including the intersection of Main Street and St. Charles Road.
- The underpass at Main Street and the track crossing at Elizabeth Street will be CLOSED. Use Crescent Boulevard or Grace Street to cross the tracks.
- Eastbound and westbound traffic on St. Charles Road will be detoured north to Grove Street.
- Northbound and southbound Main Street traffic will be detoured east to Grace Street.
Kids and Family Community RideFamilies are invited to ride the official race course during the Kids & Family Community Ride at 6 p.m. Pre-register your family at www.bikereg.com/intelligentsia-cup-lombard-fun-ride. After registering the first rider, additional family members can be added. A QR code will be emailed and must be presented at check-in. This year, thanks to Variety of Illinois, free helmets will be provided on site to participating children while supplies last.

Road Closure for Lombard Brew Fest
Parkside Avenue will be closed this weekend for the Lombard Brew Fest, hosted by the Lombard Junior Women’s Club. The road will be closed between Elizabeth Street and S. Park Avenue from 3 a.m. on Friday, July 18, through 8 p.m. on Saturday, July 19. Motorists traveling in and around Downtown Lombard are encouraged to plan ahead and expect increased vehicle and pedestrian traffic throughout the event. Lombard Park District Seeking Community Input on Park Concept
The Lombard Park District is inviting the community to attend upcoming open house events to provide input on a proposed development concept for the Maple Street property at Lilacia Park. The concept includes gardens, walking paths, gathering spaces, and improved accessibility. The open houses will be held on Monday, July 21, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and Tuesday, July 22, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at Sunset Knoll Recreation Center, located at 820 S. Finley Road in Lombard. Know the Rules for E-Scooters, E-Bikes, and Other Motorized Devices
The Lombard Police Department is continuing efforts to educate the community about laws and safety guidelines for using e-scooters, e-bikes, and other motorized devices. Here are a few important reminders: - Riders of e-scooters must be 18 or older, per State law.
- E-bikes must follow the Bicycle Rules of the Road.
- Class 3 e-bike riders must be at least 16 years old.
- Riding on sidewalks is discouraged and prohibited in certain areas, including Downtown Lombard. Refer to the Walk Your Wheels webpage for details.
- Kids under 16 cannot operate non-highway motorcycles or similar motor-driven cycles (gas or electric) on public roads, as these require a valid driver's license and insurance.

USPS Proposes Relocation of Lombard Post Office
The Village of Lombard has been informed that the U.S. Postal Service is proposing to relocate the Lombard Retail Postal Store, located at 226 Yorktown Shopping Center, due to the non-renewal of their current lease. The USPS plans to remain within the 60148 ZIP Code and maintain the same level of service. Options under consideration include a 700-square-foot building or an approximately 11,000-square-foot site for a modular, postal-owned facility.
