Water Main Rehabilitation Project on Butterfield A water main rehabilitation project is scheduled to begin along Butterfield Road, between Fountain Square Drive and S. Fairfield Avenue, the week of June 16. This work is part of ongoing efforts to improve the Village’s water system infrastructure and minimize future service disruptions in the area. The westbound curb lane of Butterfield Road will be closed, while the remaining two lanes will stay open to maintain traffic flow. Access to all properties in the area will remain available throughout the duration of the project. Work is expected to last approximately one month, weather permitting. Drivers are urged to slow down, use caution and watch for construction crews in the work zone. Temporary traffic delays may occur; we appreciate your patience and cooperation. For more information about the project, visit the Village website.

E-Scooter and E-Bike Safety Reminders The Lombard Police Department continues to educate the community about laws and safety concerns related to the use of e-scooters, e-bikes and other motorized devices.
Safety is our top priority—for riders, drivers and everyone sharing the road. Following these guidelines helps prevent crashes, injuries and confusion. Key reminders include: - Riders of e-scooters must be 18 or older per state law
- E-bikes must follow all Bicycle Rules of the Road and riders of Class 3 e-bikes must be at least 16 years old.
- Riding on sidewalks is discouraged and is prohibited in certain areas, including Downtown Lombard.
- Children under 16 may not operate dirt bikes or similar motor-driven cycles on public roads, as these require a valid driver’s license and insurance.
Let’s work together to ride responsibly and help keep Lombard safe. For more information, safety tips, and downloadable handouts, visit villageoflombard.org/565/E-Bikes-Scooter-Safety.

Fight the Bite: Protect Yourself from Mosquitoes This Summer DuPage County health officials have confirmed the first West Nile virus (WNV)-positive mosquito pools of the season, found in Roselle, Medinah, Clarendon Hills, and Burr Ridge. While there have been no reported human cases of WNV in DuPage County to date, the presence of WNV-positive mosquitoes signals an increased risk to residents. To reduce your risk of mosquito bites and potential exposure to WNV, the County encourages everyone to follow the “3 R’s”: Reduce mosquito breeding by removing standing water from around your home, Repel mosquitoes by using insect repellent, and Report stagnant water or other mosquito concerns to the DuPage County Health Department. The Health Department’s Personal Protection Index (PPI) has been raised from level zero to level one, meaning residents are encouraged to take basic precautions. The PPI is updated weekly and provides a snapshot of current mosquito activity and risk across the county. Stay informed and take simple steps to protect yourself and your family this summer. For more information, visit the DuPage County Health Department website.
