Lombard Fire Department Receives Life-Saving Award The Lombard Fire Department has been named First Runner-Up for the prestigious Hartmann Award, presented annually by Good Samaritan Hospital to recognize excellence in emergency medical care within the Good Samaritan EMS System. The Lombard Fire Department received this recognition following a critical emergency call involving a 17-year-old male patient experiencing a severe asthma attack, which had progressed to loss of consciousness and inadequate breathing. Responding paramedics from Lombard implemented multiple advanced life support (ALS) interventions, including the administration of critical medications and the performance of endotracheal intubation—a life-saving procedure that secures a patient’s airway for mechanical ventilation. Thanks to the decisive actions and clinical expertise of the paramedics, the patient’s condition was stabilized, resulting in a positive outcome.

Solicitor Information Did you know that all solicitors in the Village of Lombard require a permit? Solicitors must apply for and be approved for a permit to solicit in the Village. A list and photos of the solicitors currently holding a permit to solicit within the Village are listed on the Village website. Additionally, door-to-door solicitors within the Village must honor "No Solicitors" signs and should have a visible badge/credentials and a valid Village permit. A Village solicitor badge indicates that the solicitor is licensed and registered with the Village, but is not an endorsement of the individual, company, products or services. If there is a problem with an unpermitted solicitor or one who does not honor "No solicitors" signs, residents should call 911.

Large Diameter Combined Sewer Project Update – May 2025 The Village’s Large Diameter Combined Sewer Project is progressing on schedule, with current work taking place in the rear yards of the Green Valley Subdivision (bounded by Hickory, Washington, Park, and Elizabeth Streets). Crews will continue west along West Hickory Street toward Finley Road once this phase is complete. This project uses trenchless technology to reduce the need for excavation. However, access to underground infrastructure is still required through existing manholes, including those located in roadways. As a result, the intersection of South Elizabeth Street and West Hickory Street will be temporarily closed for just under one month. Favorable weather and project conditions may allow the closure to end sooner.
