Text-to-911 Now Available
The Village of Lombard is pleased to share that residents can now contact 9-1-1 dispatchers via text message when calling is not an option. This service is especially valuable for individuals who are deaf, hard of hearing or have a speech disability, situations where calling could put someone in danger, such as during a domestic violence incident or when hiding from an intruder and medical emergencies where a person is unable to speak.
The launch of Text-to-911 is part of a coordinated effort among public safety agencies across DuPage County. The Village of Lombard is served by DU-COMM (DuPage Public Safety Communications), a regional emergency dispatch center that handles 9-1-1 calls for many local communities. When you contact 9-1-1 in Lombard, DU-COMM works with the Lombard Police Department and Lombard Fire Department to send the appropriate emergency services.
