No Mow 'til Mother's Day Initiative Returns

The "No Mow 'til Mother's Day" initiative is back! This program invites residents to refrain from mowing their lawn—or a portion of it—until the first week of May to support the local ecology, pollinator habitats and area wildlife. Following the overwhelming response to the pilot program introduced in 2023, the Village amended the Village Code to allow all residents to participate. Last year's changes allow grass, both on private property and the parkway, to exceed the maximum height of 8 inches until the Saturday following Mother's Day.

Residents can participate without signing up with the Village, and signage will not be provided. Those who participated in 2023 may use the sign provided that year, although it is not required for participation.

Lombard Police Recognize Distracted Driving Awareness Month in April

April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month, and the Lombard Police Department will be ramping up efforts to keep our roads safe. Officers will be out in full force in April, watching for drivers who are texting or otherwise distracted behind the wheel.

“Distracted driving is a serious threat to public safety, and in 2023 it was responsible for 58 deaths in Illinois,” said Police Sergeant Tom Balsitis. “Taking your eyes off the road for even a few seconds can have devastating consequences. We urge all drivers to stay focused and make safe driving their priority.”
