Celebrate Safely: Drive Sober This St. Patrick’s Day Weekend

As St. Patrick’s Day weekend kicks off, the Lombard Police Department is reminding everyone to celebrate responsibly. Officers will be stepping up patrols through March 18 to keep roads safe and prevent impaired driving.

Lombard Police will be on the lookout for drivers under the influence of alcohol or cannabis, as well as enforcing seat belt laws—especially at night when seat belt use is lower. Speeding, distracted driving and other traffic violations will also be closely monitored.

Make a plan for a sober ride and help keep our community safe!

Residential Drainage Program Available

The Village of Lombard is pleased to continue offering its Residential Drainage Program to assist residents experiencing persistent drainage issues at their single-family residential properties. Approved by the Village of Lombard Board of Trustees in 2023, the program builds upon a previous Backyard Drainage program by providing enhanced guidance and resources to residential property owners who want to address standing water issues.

The enhanced program offers a concierge approach that includes initial field and data assessments, as well as technical guidance throughout the process. Additionally, the Village Grant program has increased its funding, now offering a 50% reimbursement of up to $15,000 for qualified improvements that address standing water problems lasting more than 72 hours on multiple properties.

Get Reimbursed for Compost Bins and Rain Barrels

It’s easy to take advantage of these programs: simply download the appropriate form, purchase your bin and/or barrel from any retailer, and submit the form along with a copy of your receipt and a photo showing the item installed at your home.

This is a great way to reduce waste and conserve water. To learn more about these reimbursement programs and others, visit the Grants webpage.
