Participate in the 7th Annual Public Works Citizens Academy

The Lombard Public Works Department is pleased to announce its 7th annual Public Works Citizens Academy (PWCA), which will provide residents with an opportunity to learn more about the operations and services provided by the department. Residents interested in the program are invited to sign up through this application, as class size is limited.

The free academy is open to Lombard residents 18 and older and offers hands-on training activities, tours of Village facilities and presentations by Public Works staff. Lombard’s PWCA will be held on Monday evenings, from 6 to 8:30 p.m., April 14 through May 5, with a graduation event scheduled on Thursday, May 15, prior to a regularly scheduled Village Board of Trustees Meeting.

Drive Sober this St. Patrick's Day Weekend

All too often, St. Patrick’s Day celebrations turn deadly because of impaired driving. As the St. Patrick’s Day weekend approaches, the Lombard Police Department is joining local law enforcement across the state to stop impaired driving and help save lives.

The stepped-up traffic safety campaign will run from March 7 through March 18.

In addition to looking for alcohol- and cannabis-impaired drivers, the Lombard Police Department will be stepping up seat-belt enforcement, particularly at night when seat-belt usage rates are lowest. Speeding, distracted driving and other traffic laws will also be strictly enforced.

Reminder: Change your Clocks, Change your Batteries

As we "spring forward" for daylight saving time this Sunday, March 9, the Lombard Fire Department reminds residents to replace the batteries in their smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.

“Moving your clocks forward for daylight saving time is an excellent reminder to check your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms,” said Fire Marshal Perry Johnson. “The simple act of changing the batteries in these devices could save your life and the lives of your loved ones.”

Worn-out or missing batteries are the leading cause of non-working smoke alarms. Replacing them at least once a year, testing alarms and reminding others to do the same can help prevent fire-related injuries and deaths.

2025 National Community Survey for Lombard

Paper surveys for the 2025 National Community Survey have been mailed to 3,000 randomly selected Lombard households. The survey gathers resident feedback on Village services and quality of life through a scientifically valid process conducted by Polco, an independent research firm.

If you received a survey, your participation is important. Polco ensures that all responses remain confidential and that data is analyzed objectively. Responses are requested by March 19, and your feedback will help shape future Village priorities and improvements. Please take a few minutes to share your thoughts and make your voice heard.
