Holiday Recycling Reminders
As the season winds down, Lombard Public Works encourages residents to recycle and dispose of seasonal items responsibly. Here’s how you can help keep our community clean and green:
Free Holiday Tree Pick Up From January 6–17, residents can place holiday trees at their curbsides for free disposal. Please ensure all tinsel, ornaments, and decorations are removed before placing the tree out for pickup.
Holiday Light Recycling Don’t toss those old or unwanted holiday lights, extension cords, or scrap wiring—recycle them instead! A convenient collection bin is located at the Public Works facility, 1051 Hammerschmidt Avenue. The last day to drop off items is Monday, January 15.

Prevent Thefts With the 9PM Routine
As we welcome the new year, the Lombard Police Department is encouraging residents to adopt a nightly 9 PM Routine to help reduce thefts and vehicle break-ins.
Safety Tips to Protect Your Property:
- Avoid leaving items like cell phones, wallets, purses, cash, etc. in your vehicle. - Ensure windows are fully closed and sunroofs are securely locked. - Always lock your car doors and never leave keys inside your vehicle. - Keep garage door openers out of sight to prevent unauthorized access to your home. - Do not leave sensitive documents like checks and bank statements in your vehicle. - Avoid moving valuables to your trunk while in public view. - Turn on exterior lights, such as porch, garage, and driveway lights.
Starting a 9 p.m. routine can be a simple yet powerful way to begin the new year with a focus on safety. Set a nightly reminder to check your vehicle, lock your doors, and turn on your exterior lights before heading to bed.

January is National Radon Action Month
January is National Radon Action Month, an annual observance that focuses on increasing awareness of the health risks of radon, which is the second leading cause of lung cancer. In connection with this observance, the Village of Lombard encourages residents to check the radon levels of their homes in January or during the winter months.
Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas emitted from the ground that is odorless, tasteless and colorless. Radon can enter a home through cracks in walls, basement floors, foundations and other openings. Although radon gas is measurable everywhere, the highest readings are commonly found in the basement and first-floor levels of homes and apartments.

Help Shape the Future of Public Transit
Pace Suburban Bus is rethinking its entire network of services. Pace is gathering transportation suggestions from riders, employers, advocates, community leaders and all stakeholders. Consider taking the ReVision survey to provide your feedback: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/MZS86G6.
Pace’s ReVision project team has released new transit network concepts. These concepts review and reimagine where and how often Pace routes should run and what types of transit service are appropriate in different areas of the Chicagoland region.
